Banners are flying high, both literally and figuratively, in the Hyde Park neighborhood of North St. Louis!
The majestic limestone structure of Holy Trinity Catholic Church serves as an anchor in this neighborhood. Many festive Holy Trinity white and blue banners embellish nearby street lights proclaiming Holy Trinity’s message of “Faith, Education, and Community”. But residents need no reminder that this parish community bestows a deep spiritual anchor for North St Louis. Holy Trinity parishioners have been spreading God’s love through increasing the Faith, providing Education, and serving the Community for the past 160 years. Faith Education Community Parish Base-Building Committee members share their faith and values, as well as promote the visibility of the church. These committee members invite and welcome all visitors into the Holy Trinity community in hopes of building new relationships, especially among the young people living in the North St Louis area. Through these efforts, the Parish Base-Building Committee strives to increase the number of individuals worshiping at Holy Trinity, increase the number of registered parishioners and together with the other parishioner-led groups, deepen the spiritual relationship of those individuals already part of our parish family. Sponsored activities are designed to raise awareness of Holy Trinity’s presence in the North St Louis area and to create a welcoming and nurturing environment for all persons. Just a few of the activities that Parish Base-Building Committee members participated in last year were: installation of light pole banners surrounding the Church, neighborhood canvassing to promote voter registration and Holy Trinity events, and sponsorship of a team-building/leadership day for area youth. This far-reaching spirit has also created opportunities for people from both the city and county to come together, get to know one another, and work towards common goals.
